Back to the Salt Mines.

After about five days of being in pain, doped up, and napping off and on, I had a sudden burst of creative energy and finished up a bunch of knitting projects and started a couple of new ones. My pace has been pretty good. That’s what I spent last week doing. I’ve been back to work for two half days and I can already feel the creative part of me draining away. *sigh*

It’s times like this that I really miss my recruiting consultancy. Enough so, in fact, that I spent a few hours this morning looking for contract opportunities – anything!

I’d be happiest spending 20 hours a week screening applicants and referring candidates. It’s just so much to work to make something like that happen.

Pay It Forward/Free Stuff for Freeloaders Meme.

Stolen from BigEvil & oslowe’s LJs…

The first five people who comment here will get something I make. Could be a real life thing. Could be imaginary. Depends on what I think you will like and my inspirations. (Note, it’s going to be something I think you will like. Actual liking not guarenteed!) The only real rule is that you have to make this offer in your own journal.

Tidbits of time to myself.

As I mentioned in this post, Tom is out of town for the next week, so I’m on my own.

So far, I have cleaned the kitchen, the dining room, the bathrooms, done a load of laundry, done the grocery shopping, and bought a bunch of fabric at Jo-Ann, did some sewing, and planted some key lime seeds.

This morning, I followed this tutorial on Smitten Kitchen and had poached eggs and toast. I think I’m going to have this every morning. It was the first time I’ve not had my poached eggs turn into disgusting blobs. I didn’t have any butter for my toast, so I used mayonnaise instead. It was yummy.

Tomorrow I have to drive to Covina to get my car serviced. I’m nervous about it. Seriously.

My back hurts (it might be kidney failure, I’ll let you know) and I should go to bed, but the live Olympic coverage that we are getting is pretty neat and I have anxiety.

Since I decided to quit my job with no notice, and I have decided not to start a new job until the 18th, you may be wondering, why didn’t I go with Tom? Well, first of all, Tom made his plans with Martin and Lisa before I made my plans (which were very last minute), second of all, I didn’t want to foul up anyone’s plans, and third of all, I like having the time to myself. I need it to re-energize. And I’m playing with the idea of a short jaunt up North in the fall. Depends on the money situation as the time draws nearer.
