Michael Jackson.

I don’t have a lot of new things to add about Michael Jackson’s death – in the last 15-20 years of his life, he was an out of control and dangerous freak. I made fun of him and I still laugh at his expense and take cheap shots.

I also still listen to his music.

When I was five, “Thriller” was HUGE. We had the record at my house, and I would lie on the floor, looking at the gate fold of Michael and a baby tiger, and I would think, “They should have made the tiger fuzzy so you could pet it.”

That was the last Michael Jackson album that I’ve had any ownership of.

Things I Learned on NPR Today!

NPR has become my default radio station. On my way into work, I listen to Morning Edition and I LEARN FACTS. For example today I learned:

  1. It’s truffle season in France! There are French people who grow truffles! ZOMG! [link to NPR story]
  2. Humanists, Atheists, and Agnostics have their own winter holiday called Human Light! It’s as dumb as it sounds! [link to NPR story]

What will tomorrow bring? What will I learn? I’m sure it will be FACTS!

Weezer’s Rap Album

If you haven’t picked up Weezer’s Red Album, you should. It’s everything I wanted “Make Believe” to be, but wasn’t. I’ve been meaning to give this thing my endorsement for weeks – it’s been in rotation for me since it came out. Also, if you’re into the Weez, pick up “Alone” which is Rivers Cuomo’s album of demos. It has some songs from his rock opera “Songs from the Black Hole” and the original song he wrote for the movie ANGUS. Very, very good.

I’m a singer!

Nathan and I are in a band together – The Winning Caption.

It’s just him and me (mostly him – he plays all the instruments and writes original songs), and his friend Justin (who is also my sister’s husband’s brother) is our producer.

Here’s our first recording. I hope you like it. It’s a cover of a familiar song.
