I was at the store the other day (Tuesday?) and I was looking for hot dog relish. It’s the yellow relish – traditionally, I think it’s just mustard and sweet pickle relish mixed together. So, shouldn’t the ingredients say “Pickles, Mustard” and that’s it? Maybe break down the ingredients of mustard and sweet pickles? On the Heinz brand hot dog relish:

The number one ingredient is “High Fructose Corn Syrup.” Gross!
What about Heinz’ plain sweet pickle relish?

The number two ingredient! Yuck!
What are these crazy Krauts trying to do to me? I don’t normally obsess over ingredients, but I know what goes into making pickles and mustard, and HFCS is not one of those things.
Thank god for the Del Monte sweet pickle relish, which I don’t have a picture of, but it’s ingredients are cucumbers, sugar, vinegar, and peppers. YUM!

Del Monte. They also made a mean-ass fruit cup when I was a lil’ buckaroo, as I recall.
