I saw Morrissey on Sunday night at the Paramount Theater. He took his shirt off. Sang “Disappointed,” “First of the Gang to Die,” “Everday is Like Sunday,” and “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” just to name a few. It was amazing. He’s brilliant and quippy.
Did You Know… Morrissey bought all of the furniture for his home in L.A. in Seattle? That he had a great time in Spokane when he played there? That he will stop the concert if he doesn’t like the sound mix?
He stopped and made chit-chat with people in the front row until the sound was fixed. He introduced a woman named Julia, who he said was at the very first Smiths rehearsal. Best bit: “I could recite some poetry… [audience goes fucking crazy] Does anyone know any?”
His set was an hour and a half long, at least, he sounds great, looks fantastic, and I’m sorry I didn’t drive across the state to see him in Spokane.
His band is fantastic, too. I think he’s been with at least the lead guitarist as long as he’s been solo, and with the rest of them since his comeback on Attack Records. It shows. They are total pros.
The opening act was bloody awful, though. It was like if The White Stripes, Tori Amos, and Bjork had test tube freak twins. Keyboard, drums, and shrieking, with bad loops and hand claps. *shudder* MY husband will be complaining about it for the rest of our lives.
*sigh*
